Candidates

Santtosh Sivaram

Throughout my time here at UCL, MSoc has given me a sense of belonging and provided me the opportunity to meet many other Malaysians. I am running for this position because I want to reciprocate the support that I have received from MSoc and enhance the experiences of incoming and current Malaysian students at UCL.

I believe that my previous experiences make me exceptionally suited for this role. Being the Community Service Director in my school required me to interact with numerous firms and businesses in hopes of securing sponsorships for charitable events. This has equipped me with good communication skills, which I am confident will help me with finding new sponsors for MSoc and also maintaining the existing ones.

If entrusted with the role of Corporate Relations Director, I am committed to leveraging my experience and enthusiasm to drive positive change in MSoc. My main focus is to expand our sponsorship base, thereby allowing my fellow Malaysians to enjoy social events at more affordable rates.

Abigail Yee

Hi everyone, I'm Abigail, and I'm running for Corporate Relations Director.

Through MSoc, I've learned a fundamental truth of connection creates value. The bonds I've formed within our community have not only enriched my university experience but also sparked a desire to give back to MSoc.

I've seen the transformative impact of connections. From organising events like the Internship Insider RD Event to participating in networking opportunities such as the GAIN Investment Insight Programme, I've witnessed how these connections can open doors for individuals and organisations alike.

My vision for MSoc revolves around leveraging the power of connection to empower our members. Through immersive company visits and engaging workshops, I aim to cultivate an environment where meaningful connections are made, serving as a bridge between corporations and students.

By nurturing existing sponsor relationships and attaining new partnerships, I'm committed to securing additional resources to host more socials and foster lasting connections!

As an economics student, I am adept at working with both numbers and words. My experiences as a student consultant and as the current AMEU Media & Marketing Director have honed my ability to communicate effectively with clients and affiliates.

In conclusion, my candidacy is driven by a dedication to enhancing MSoc's value through expanding our connections. I'm prepared to represent MSoc with enthusiasm and professionalism in all corporate dealings.

Ng Khee Ong

No leader can govern a nation without gold, and no association can function without funding. UCL Malaysia Society is no different from other associations; we require money to operate, and the more funding we receive, the more benefits we can deliver to our members. I am Khee Ong, a first year student studying robotics and AI and I am here to ensure that we have sufficient funding for the year, such that a lack of funds does not result in organisational constraints for events like socials, M-game and M-night.

Based on my two prior internships in Malaysia—during which I operated as a marketing intern and as a purchasing/operations intern—I am confident that I am exceedingly qualified for this position, as I have a solid understanding about how the industry in Malaysia works. These experiences will enable me to effectively develop and sustain relationships with existing sponsors, as well as actively look for potential sponsors.

My key objective are:

  1. Expand Sponsor Base:
    • Actively pursue sponsorships from companies of all sizes and industries.
  2. Diversify Industry Connections:
    • Introduce organisations from diverse sectors like semiconductor manufacturing and graphic design.
    • Create opportunities for career or internship placements with these varied industries.
  3. Local Corporate Engagement:
    • Reach out to publicly listed local companies in Malaysia.
    • Seek both sponsorship support and explore potential career opportunities.
Alicia Mak

Hi all! My name is Alicia, a first-year Computer Science student running for the Corporate Relations Director position. The Malaysian Society has played an integral part while I adjust to my first two terms at university. From the outset, the family system within MSoc has not only introduced me to my best friends but also genuine bonds that have not only enriched my university life but have become the cornerstone of lasting connections.

Being involved in the RD program has allowed me to actively contribute to the planning of events as Vice Organising Chairperson, empowering me to become a proactive architect of our MSoc experiences. Running for this role, my commitment comes from a deep-seated gratitude for the society and I hope to contribute to the continued growth and vibrancy of this incredible community.

Why I am a good fit for the role:

  • my track record of leadership roles has developed my organisational and time management skills.
  • I am a quick learner and am confident in my ability to adapt and excel in new challenges.
  • my ability to convey ideas clearly as a strong communicator and collaborate with diverse teams.

In this role, my intended goals involve:

  • Diversifying Corporate Partnerships (e.g. Healthcare / IT)
  • Strengthening ties with UCL Malaysian alumni
  • Securing larger budgets for future UCL MSoc events

My complete manifesto is attached here if you're curious to learn more about my goals. Thank you for your time and have a great day! :D
