Malayali Society: Cultural Secretary

Hello! My name is Annliya and I am excited to be running for cultural officer!

I have had an amazing experience being part of the society as a first year rep and I would like to carry forward that spirit into this role.

My appreciation for my culture has definitely increased as I have gotten older. I can confidently say I am proud to be a mallu and I would like to share that with all the members of the society if I am elected into this role. I promise to work hard, together with all the other committee members to ensure we have a range of events and gathering but especially ensuring that the cultural ones are representative and give us all a sense of home and belonging. Events such as Onam this academic year has been a great success and I want to keep this going into the future making it bigger and better than ever!

Together, I hope we can continue to have the Malayali society be a welcoming place for everyone, a space to cherish our culture and have a load of fun while doing it !

I want to get more engaged with the society and help build up the society for the new students. I would like to help ensure that the cultural aspects of our traditions are celebrated through events we can all participate in. 

This would be a great opportunity for me to get more involved and build relations between the others in the society but I also believe I have a lot of organisation and leadership skills that would make me a great candidate for the role.
