Siddharth Parambath

In the past year, the LfA society has been instrumental in my personal and professional growth, offering speaker-led sessions, skills workshops, and topical debates that have enriched my understanding of the legal landscape. Having attended numerous open days at prestigious firms like HSF, Jones Day, Eversheds and Sutherland and Kirkland and Ellis, I've witnessed firsthand the diversity within the legal sector, further fueling my passion for inclusivity and equal representation. As a first-year law student at UCL, I've observed a significant gap in accessibility within our law departmental society's events, which often overlook non-law students despite their substantial presence and potential contribution to the legal profession.

As president, I aim to foster inclusivity and innovation within our society through the following initiatives:

1. Host dynamic online workshops led by industry professionals to ensure active participation and enriching learning experiences.

2.  Launch events addressing diversity issues in law, including panel sessions and workshops focusing on gender, ethnicity, accessibility, and other relevant topics.

3.  Organize hackathons to generate innovative solutions to legal challenges, collaborating with law-tech startups and professionals to mentor participants.

4. Establish initiatives to connect with local schools and marginalized communities, offering educational workshops and mentorship to promote social mobility and inspire interest in law careers.

Rachel Lawrence

My name is Rachel and as your current president, I'd love to express to you why I hope to sit as a president for the next academic year, and how it’d benefit you! Through acting as president for the past few terms, I’ve been able to acquire a strong understanding of the behind the scenes technicalities, allowing our society to bring to you graduate recruitment dinners and trips to firm offices, and so with my existing grasp on the role, I will be able to hit the ground running to make the next year significantly more productive, informative, insightful and fun!

As I succeeded in acquiring sponsors of the likes of Herbert Smith Freehills, Allen & Overy and Ropes & Gray for last year, I’m confident in my ability to secure an exciting line up of sponsors to provide to you a hub of resources and experiences. Having already communicated with firms in preparation for the next year, I can assure you a foundation that I hope to continue to nurture.

Navigating the field as a non-law student can be daunting when there is so much to do and you don’t know where to start, and that’s how I felt when I first started my career journey. I hope to use my experience, knowledge of the field, knowledge of external resources and passion for this society to be a president you can talk to and rely on!!

Jasmine Harding

Hi I'm Jasmine, currently a first year PPE student, with a passion for law and hoping to explore the field further from a non-law background.

I'm standing for Law for All president this year to increase the participation of non-law students in the law field and to increase the number of events, partnerships with firms and alumni to give students the space to pursue this. I'm specifically hoping that more students find the career path accessible even if they aren't currently on the path of a law degree or like myself are just curious about exploring the opportunities that law presents.

Manon Ring

Hi everyone! I'm Manon and I’m thrilled to be running for President ! I’m a second-year Politics & Sociology student at SSEES and taking an EU Law module outside of my department made me realize how needed this society is, hence my motivation to actively take part in it! If appointed president, my priorities will be:

  • Inclusive community: welcome students from all academic backgrounds, listen and respond to the needs of the society, ensure all members feel supported
  • Career Development: Connect members with legal professionals, with a focus on integrating the sector without a law degree (conversion courses, vacation scheme)
  • Workshops: career orientation sessions, application and CV workshops, Assessment centre training with professionals.

Thanks to my network, previous internships and extra-curricular activities, I believe I have developed a strong set of abilities necessary for this role: I own solid administrative and communication skills, and doing ballet at a National level developed my pragmatism and meticulousness. Allying this practice with IB training provided me with a solid work capacity while actively participating in numerous international MUNs developed my problem-solving and leadership skills.

Wishing to push the society in the right direction and continue the amazing work done by the current committee, I would be very eager to take on the role of President. I look forward to bringing my passion and expertise to this exciting role!
