Haowen Xue

Hi everyone! I’m Haowen, running for Kinesis welfare officer.

As a writer, I really appreciate the creativity and hard work of our society. I truly wish to support our members who encounter problems that need to be heard and resolved. As an academic rep, I am very keen to listen to our students, and I am always patient at understanding different situations and needs. I’m also very aware of the importance of different cultures, physiological and mental wellbeings, genders and more, and I greatly appreciate the diversity among us. Therefore, I would like to contribute to the committee and collaborate with our members to make Kinesis become even better!

Celine Tedja

Hello everyone, I’m Celine. Over the past few months, I have contributed to Kinesis Magazine as a writer and editor, and I really enjoyed doing it! For the next academic year, I would like to step up my role by becoming a committee member of Kinesis Magazine. I am standing as a welfare officer because I believe that the well-being of a society’s members is an important aspect of creating a positive environment and maximising performance. As a welfare officer, I would like to provide support to members by being a point of contact for them if they need any help or advice. My friends would describe me as a good listener, so I believe that this role would suit me. As a committee member, I would also like to help organise events held by the society to ensure that they run smoothly. Regarding my experience, I am currently the first-year representative for media and marketing at the UCL Biochemistry Society. If chosen as the welfare officer for Kinesis Magazine, I am willing to transfer the organisational skills that I have gained into this role. I am excited about the future potential of Kinesis Magazine and the opportunity to grow in this close-knit community.

Altay Shaw

Hi Everyone!

I have had the privilege of being a part of Kinesis since the start of my course. I have had the honour of being both a Copy Editor and the President of our society.

I wish to continue with our current efforts to ensure every writer, editor, artist and collaborator is encouraged to create articles and artworks for our Issues, Online pieces and our podcast. Beyond ensuring the relevant members of our society are up to date on their Welfare training, I have ensured I have completed the Active Bystander programme over the past two years. In conjunction with this, I have provided lessons for students on the National Tutoring Programme, providing STEM lessons for those who struggled with work following the lockdowns.

Having been on committee for the past three years, I am prepared to tackle the challenges that this role will entail. I will continue to ensure events are accessible to all, as has been demonstrated this year through our use of Museum Trips and Socials for Magazine Launches which did not bar entry for those who do not drink, increasing our sober events across the course of the year. Kinesis will continue to have the broad outlook and will continue to be the welcoming society it has always been.
