I am enthusiastic about utilizing my organizational skills and creativity to enhance the well-being and social experiences of our members in the role of welfare officer. During my high school years, I actively participated in peer mentoring programs, where I served as a mentor to younger students. This experience honed my ability to be approachable, empathetic, and an effective communicator.

Additionally, I played a key role in organizing cultural fairs in high school, where I gained valuable experience in boosting cultural diversity and promoting inclusivity. These events provided opportunities for individuals from diverse backgrounds to come together and celebrate our shared cultural heritage.

In my capacity as welfare officer, I am committed to being easily approachable and accessible to all members of our society. I will strive to maintain open lines of communication, actively listening to the needs and concerns of our members while working collaboratively with the committee to implement initiatives that promote a safe and respectful environment for all.

Furthermore, I look forward to promoting our events to individuals from any and all backgrounds, ensuring that everyone feels welcome and included in our society's activities. I believe that by embracing diversity and inclusivity, we can create a vibrant and supportive community where all members can thrive.

Kashika Saxena

Hi guys, I’m Kashika, a first year med student, and I’m running for cultural & community/welfare officer for Indian society!

My aim as cultural & community officer would be to run as many events as I can to promote a sense of community in the society. Whether it be chai and chaat, movie nights, mehndi, or yoga, I want to give members the opportunity to engage with each other in a casual, comfortable environment.

As much as I loved the big events, I remember coming out of the smaller ones, like the mehndi event during freshers, feeling more personally connected to the culture, so I would love to run some more through the year.

As welfare officer, I will aim to keep harmony within the committee and its members. I describe myself as an approachable person and will ensure that I promote myself as a place for everyone to raise any concerns.
I also believe I would be a useful asset to the committee, having experience working in many different teams; throughout my experience as a First Year Rep, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working in a team with the committee having created so many fond memories. I would therefore absolutely love to continue the growth of the team next year!

Sanjana Krishnan

Hey everyone! I’m Sanjana and I’m thrilled to run for welfare officer! As a first-year medic, I’m aware of how vital compassion and empathy are, not only for this role but also throughout life. Volunteering at the Royal Marsden Hospital has honed my time management and communication skills, essential skills for a welfare officer. I know how stressful uni life can be at times, and I’m dedicated to ensuring everyone feels welcome, happy, and supported. I’m also eager to arrange weekly welfare sessions, providing a friendly face and lend an ear (snacks included!) for anyone seeking support.

Collaborating with the social secretary, I aim to promote numerous social events to ensure inclusivity is at the heart of our community, and most importantly to make many new friendships along the way. This opportunity allows me to not only prioritize others' well-being but also enhance my communication skills and empathy for my future healthcare career.

Recently joining the CMUK Marketing team exposed me to platforms like Canva and Postwizz. I intend to leverage these tools to create a dedicated well-being page for our Indian society members. This page will offer tips on improving physical health, suggested workout routines, healthy meal plans, and guidance on enhancing mental well-being. I’m also really excited to organise yoga sessions, meditation classes, and enjoyable socials to serve as stress-busters and something fun to look forward to!

That’s all! Hope I can count on your vote :)
