Hi everyone, I’m Kumaresh and I’m a first year economics student running for the role of treasurer. As a first year representative for Indian society, I’ve witnessed first-hand the hard work and meticulous planning required to execute events such as Jashn. The role provided me with an insight as to the scale of these events as well as the features that lead to their success. This has given me an understanding as to how the Societies’ budget should be allocated to ensure students receive the maximum return from their membership.

Having collaborated with the current committee, I understand the importance of organization for a successful treasurer. My summer internship at Macquarie exposed me to data and financial management, while my role at John Lewis enhanced my communication skills, vital for negotiations. These experiences have equipped me with the necessary skills to effectively manage the society's finances as its treasurer.

If given the role of treasurer I will prioritise sparing no expense to maintain the high standards expected from our events and balance this with striving for the lowest costs possible for members. My focus will be on social, career and cultural events which cater for British-Indians and international students, as well as those from other backgrounds wishing to learn more about and immerse themselves in Indian culture!
