Elyssa Varma

As president, my main goal is to make the society as welcoming and inclusive as possible by organising a range of events tailored to everyone from all kinds of backgrounds. I'm keen to run frequent socials such as games nights, karaoke, pub nights and quizzes so members of the society can get to know each other in a calm and relaxed setting. Joint events with other universities such as Kings and LSE is also something I would implement as its great to make connections and get to know new people.

Since becoming a first year representative for the society and working with the current committee, I'm confident I understand not only the logistics of smoothly running large events, but also how to appeal to students to make them as fun and exciting as possible. I have acquired strong leadership and communication skills from previously being a tennis coach. I'm friendly and outgoing and love getting to know the members of the society ensuring everyone feels comfortable and has a good time.

I am determined to make the society the best it can possibly be this year, ranging from chilled out social events to heavy drinking clubbing nights, there is something for everyone. I have got loads of new ideas that I'm so excited to work on, including an Indian Soc Tour, special guests as Jashn and loads more, which would all be highlights of the year.

Vote for me if you want to have the best, action packed year in a society that feels like home.
