Neel Kalyan

Yooo guys!

I haven't really danced before, popular to contrary belief. Nahh I'm just kidding, you can I've never danced when trying to keep up with the girls during Krupali's choreo!

But since coming to uni I've been super duper lucky to have been involved in many dance oppurtunities like just bollywood, rangeela, junoon and jashn. I've absolutley LOVED the experience of learning different dances and meeting different people, many of whom I am very lucky to call my buddies.

As social sec I'd love to organise different meetups outside of dance to ease new comers like me into the society. It would also be a great oppurtunity for all of us to get to know each other on a more personal level. Since being appointed as the just bollywood social sec by the wonderful, one and only shreetama, I have several places in mind for where can hold the socials :) One of them being a skate disco-we can try the sher khul gaye hookstep on skates!!!

I genuinely believe this society has been such a wholesome and welcoming society for people from different backgrounds of dance and it would just be wicked to be a part of the committee next year. Hopefully we can get more and more people into dancing, because dancing is love, dancing is life!

Ruchi Agarwal

Hello! I’m Ruchi, a first year Biochemistry student. If elected as social secretary I would love to contribute to a space where people connect with one another through dance. Whether it be while dancing to the latest Bollywood trend or a nostalgic classical choreography, I strive to make sure people of all abilities feel welcome and bond with one another. I hope to build an enthusiastic environment where the intimidation of learning new things is easily overcome thanks to great company.

I understand the commitment and importance of this role and can’t wait to be involved in all of the events this coming year. My previous experience in leadership positions has fortified my organisational skills as well as creativity. I am confident that i can help events run smoothly. I aim to connect dancers from all london universities and also lead outreach programs beyond our university in voluntary efforts.

Finally, I appreciate Indian Dance Society for finding a thread that ties us back to our culture in a unique way. I would love to continue the work of the current committee who have not given students a platform not only to connect, but also, to share skills, passion and many fun evenings together. Thank you for reading my manifesto and hope to see you often in the coming year!

Lavdhi Jain

Hi everyone! I’m Lavdhi, I’m a first-year Medical student, and I’m hoping to apply for Social Secretary!

As a member of Indian Dance Society, I’ve loved attending the weekly dance classes and workshops, where I’ve enjoyed everything from upbeat Bollywood choreography, to learning classical styles. I’ve also enjoyed getting involved in different dance performances like Rangeela, the Christmas Cultural Showcase, and Junoon; I had so much fun meeting new people, and improving my dancing skills!

I strongly believe I would be a fantastic social secretary, because of my experience in other leadership positions. As a first-year representative of Jain Society, I was deeply involved in the promotion of events and supported the committee in coming up with new ideas. Similarly, as badminton team captain at school, I organised the schedule for practice sessions, and honed my team-working skills. Likewise, as a school prefect, I worked with other students and coordinated with staff, to creatively produce new initiatives.

As your social secretary, I would love to work closely with the rest of committee and other societies to organise some of our best events yet. I’m so excited to get involved with performances, workshops, classes, and all the other amazing opportunities this society can bring.

Thank you so much and I really hope you vote for me!
