Surendra Rana

Hello there, I’m Surendra, a second-year Geology student!

This year I have participated in some wonderful hikes across the country and met a wide variety of wonderful people across the club. Having served as Safety & Equipment for the 23/24 year, it would be wonderful to continue my participation within the committee!

I love hearing the multitude of stories from our members and thought this would be a nice position to apply for as the role gets one to ‘keep the cogs flowing’ in our society. Having regularly gone to meetings last year, it’d be nice to participate in an almost messenger-esque way.

William Antcliff

I am running for Secretary of the UCL Hiking Club because I am incredibly passionate about both hiking and delivering the best possible experience for all members. Since joining the club, I have attended several of the regular weekend hikes, both of this year's residentials and multiple social events. My time as a walk leader has massively enhanced my ability to lead and support larger groups and given me valuable insight into how the club management works.

I held five different committee positions across three different societies during my undergraduate studies - including the role of Secretary. This has provided me with a strong skillset (time management, teamwork, effective communications, etc.) which being Secretary requires. I have always enjoyed helping out, either with route planning, logistics, walk leading, general feedback, etc. and being Secretary would increase the impact of my contribution and ideas going forward.

Finally, I have thoroughly enjoyed hiking alongside the wonderfully diverse range of members within our club and would love the opportunity to be involved in a new committee as Secretary. I will work hard to ensure we continue to deliver the excellent quality of hikes, events and trips that our members expect. I will also strive to assist a team which seeks to improve the experience for all members and that is catered to all skill levels and interests.
