Alesha Parkar

Hi everyone! My name is Alesha, I'm a second year Biological Sciences student hoping to be your Women in HeMP Lead in the next academic year.  Growing up in a city as diverse as London, I've been able to experience what it means to be a female in so many different environments, the common denominator between them being a systematic lack of equality, putting women at a disadvantage.

Having been an active organisational member in other societies, I've gained an incredible insight into the workings of a society, as well as the changes that need to be made within a society to ensure its success.  If elected, I aim to create change by:
    - Increasing collaborations with other societies to increase diversity  among a larger student body regarding gender-based      inequalities, and the ways we can overcome these boundaries
    - Holding careers events with women in HeMP from different backgrounds
    - Ensuring inclusivity from all aspects of our events to create a safe and supportive space within UCL HeMP

Thank you for considering my application, it would be an honour to work with you all soon :)
