Dear GES members, as we navigate this transformative economic era, it is imperative that our financial strategies reflect these innovative times. Therefore, reflecting this commitment in my role as treasurer, I bring these essential qualities:

  • Strategic financial planning: Utilising my background in specialised analyst courses and energy sector internships in business development, I aim to enhance our society's financial health through ensuring timely payments and accurately tracking funds.
  • Efficient resource allocation: My diverse experience across financial and charity societies (including roles in sponsorship, marketing and events) equips me with the insight to optimally distribute funds, supporting all our society's initiatives effectively.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills: Enable me to ensure transparent financial management and collaboration across departments, vital for meeting the committees' and members' needs.

My holistic view, dedication to openness and accountability, effectively position me to to uphold the principles we stand for in our commitment to transforming to a net-zero economy through actionable steps. This includes building partnerships with like-minded sponsors to boost our funding and support our goals. Electing me as your treasurer means entrusting our finances to someone dedicated to transparent management and committed to turning our sustainability principles into reality.

Hi! I am Gabrielle and I am running to be your next Treasurer at Green Economy Society :)

Having served as Vice-President at UCL Diplomacy Society and Social Enterprise Executive at UCL Business Society over the past year, I am familiar with how societies function and thrive at UCL. I am confident in representing the society at events and I work well in teams. Additionally, my year at Business Society has equipped me with a network of ESG finance professionals that will be useful for our events, particularly the annual Green Business Forum.

As your Treasurer, I will:

  • Responsibly manage the society's funds, keeping track of our budget and spendings in an organised manner
    • I have basic knowledge of Excel / Google Sheets
  • Ensure reimbursements are settled ASAP
  • Work with the President and Vice-President to be a reliable point of contact regarding SU matters
  • Oversee the planning and execution of societal events with the senior leadership team
  • I am looking into starting a Sustainable Investment Fund here at UCL, though it is definitely subject to further discussions.

Feel free to reach out to me at [email protected] for any questions you may have! Thank you ~

Samuel Ruiz Flanagan

As a passionate advocate for sustainability, I am deeply committed to environmentally conscious economic growth. Additionally, attending the society's  '2024 Green Business Forum' further fuelled my passion for sustainability and encouraged me to join this society. As such, I'm thrilled to apply to the Treasurer position at the UCL Green Economy Society, to work with like-minded individuals and manage the society's finances effectively.

Currently, I am in my second year of 'BA Politics, Sociology & East European Studies' at UCL, where I focus on modules relevant to the Green Economy. For example, I'm enrolled in Sustainable Energy and Macroeconomics modules, which provide me with a solid foundation in key areas pertinent to sustainable development and green initiatives. I am eager to leverage this knowledge to support the financial management of the Green Economy Society effectively.

Moreover, my experience as Treasurer for UCL's Amnesty Society at UCL, and Rhi-zone during my sixth-form, has equipped me with strong financial and organizational skills. In these roles, I successfully oversaw budgeting, events, and various other initiatives, ensuring smooth execution and optimal outcomes. These experiences prepared me for the financial responsibilities of the Treasurer position.

Please consider voting for me, as I am eager to bring my passion for sustainability and my expertise in financial management to the UCL Green Economy Society. Thank you!
