Jeanne Fairgrieve

Hey everyone,

I’m really thrilled to announce my candidacy for the position of Vice President of our European Society! Growing up in an environment that combined French and British influences, with a subtle touch of Italian has fueled my passion for fostering cross-cultural understanding.

I’m currently studying a European focus degree which is European Social and Political Studies, with specializations in economics and Italian, including a year of study in Italy in my third year! Thus, these studies have equipped me with a keen comprehension of challenges within our diverse European community.

You can count on me, in my role of Vice President to actively contribute within our society by organizing conferences and talks to foster engaging debates and compelling conversations. I’m an engaged communicator and dedicated to creating an inclusive environment that encourages active participation. I’m all ears for your queries and ideas, and will do all I can to turn them into action!

Together, let us enrich our university experience!

Alisia Maciu

Hello, everyone. I am a second-year Psychology student from Romania who has been a member of the European Society from the beginning of the second year.

I would like to run for vice president because I want to ensure that, together with the president, people can experience a variety of European cultures through various means, since I believe that European solidarity, cultural exchange, and student participation are essential.

If offered the role, I would ensure that these values are met via:

  • Weekly socials: interest would be checked with society members at the end of every week using forms/surveys to guarantee that the socials would be held on days when students would be most able to attend.
  • Speaker events on various topics, in collaboration with the appropriate societies. Interest would once again be checked via polls.
  • Alongside the European Nights termly club nights, European-themed club nights at UCL bars, with more authentic music being played. Students would be able to request their most wanted songs beforehand.
  • Shared, celebratory cultural events on countries’ national days.
  • Academic events to promote development
  • And more!
