Danilo Paganelli

Hey! My name is Danilo and I founded EELS back in 2022, and have been the president of it since then. I am very sad to be leaving my position as president, but I am looking forward to being Chair next year :) I am very proud of the friendships that have been made and all of the languages that have been learnt and the success of the society (included being shortlisted for "Best New Society" last year!) and I am hoping that the success of the society will continue to grow! My key responsibilities I plan to do next year:

1.) Organise Welcome socials so that new UCL students can make new friends and get drawn to our amazing society!

2.) Unfortunately this year I have been unable to do as much teaching as I had hoped to, but next year I am hoping to teach lessons in Cornish, Manx, Simlish, Corsican, Sicilian and Occitan, in addition to Polari and other LGBT+ languages

3.) I will also begin teaching Beginners Esperanto lessons (I will prepare over the summer)

4.) Organise monthly guest speakers - this has been my 2nd favourite part of the society these past 2 years, and now that I have lots of contacts I am hoping to host them monthly

5.) Help ensure that the society is an amazing and welcoming place to not only linguistics, but to everyone interested in endangered and constructed languages, and open to all learning styles so that no one feels unable to participate

6.) Above all else, I will support the committee the whole way and help lead the society and make a smooth transition.
