Matthieu Dinh

Hi everyone! I’m Matthieu, a 2nd year PIR student.

I strongly believe I would be a good fit for the Heads of Events role as I’ve had past experience in organisational roles. From school to online communities, I have been adept at coordinating events, reaching out to guest speakers and at communication among all parties involved.

I am currently a writer for Dip Soc’s various written media formats such as the termly journal, newly-launched newspaper and monthly online articles. Through the numerous articles written by my peers, I’m of the opinion that we as a society should be proud of the diversity and breadth of topics that our members are familiar with and interested in and expand the variety of events accordingly both in terms of format and content.

Furthermore, I would like to work to better integrate the society’s written format such as the aforementioned monthly newspaper more strongly into the heart of the society. It has great potential to reach prospective members across campus by promoting our rich and exciting events. It could also offer the unique opportunity of building on from the events themselves with coverage of the events themselves, further interviews and analysis & opinion pieces. In short, a Dip Soc event itself should only be the starting point: the foundation from which opinion, debate, discussion and analysis – which form part of our society’s DNA – is spurred.
