Running for the president role in the Detective Society feels like a natural step forward for me, driven by my deep-rooted passion for true crime and a genuine desire to create a thriving community of like-minded individuals. With a solid academic foundation in Security and Crime science, Criminology, and with me currently being a PhD student in the field of counterterrorism, I bring both knowledge and enthusiasm to the table. My vision for the Detective Society includes establishing a welcoming space where everyone, regardless of background, feels empowered to engage in both entertaining and educational activities related to our shared interest of true crime. Drawing from my previous society leadership role as the events officer for the Detective Society in the 2021/2022 academic year, I’m also excited to use my experience to craft diverse and engaging experiences that bring like minded students together, foster friendships, and spark meaningful connections - such as specialist lectures, movie nights, thought-provoking discussions, and engaging book clubs. The goal is to curate a diverse array of events that cater to students’ varied interests. I am looking forward to working together with the rest of the committee to create a space which is welcoming to all students and which they are happy to be a part of!
