Data Science is a remarkable field and plays such a pivotal role in the way we make big decisions in today’s world. As someone who is incredibly enthusiastic about the field, I hope to share my interest with UCL’s community to help the society grow and develop by taking on the responsibility of Vice President. Here are some reasons to vote for me:

     1. Leadership Experience: This year I was President of Hindu Society, from which I gained first hand experience on how to run a society, organise events, plan budgets and abide by the rules and regulations of the Students’ Union. With this experience, I can support both the President and Treasurer in making important executive decisions.

     2. Interest: I am incredibly interested in Data Science and the impact it has today, but only discovered the extent of it after coming to University. I believe with the methods I have used to step into the field, I can propose and plan events that resonate with DSS members and encourage learning. I can appeal to students who have never explored Data Science beyond brief reading.

     3. Inclusivity: I believe that societies should be aware of members who are beginners in a field, and keep them involved regardless of experience. As VP, I will work to foster a culture of inclusion within the Data Science Society to help increase our outreach.

In summary, I believe I can make a difference in the DSS community as Vice President, and will commit to making this an impactful year!

Rishi Kumar

I am currently studying for a BSc in Crime and Security Science, and before joining UCL, I was a consulting apprentice at PwC - where I focused on data. While at PwC, I built and aided in developing several data assets that we pitched and sold to clients. I also had the opportunity to work alongside and learn from some of our strategic alliances, including AWS, Google and Microsoft.

As Vice President, I want to bring my real-world insights and experience to the society and the leadership team. The scope of data and data science is constantly changing and adapting to the world around us. I am passionate about creating and harnessing a culture built on innovation and learning by using industry best practices to adapt to these changes. I believe in and have seen the importance of cognitive diversity within a team and an organisation; therefore, I will actively encourage this within the society. Through my role and connections at PwC, I aim to utilise them to hold events or partnerships between them, their partners and our society.

I am enthusiastic and see the critical role that research can have in the society when creating innovative solutions to revolutionise how we think about data and approach data-related issues. I look forward to exploring and developing my research aspirations and encouraging others within the society to do the same.

Aaditya Kumar

As a candidate for the Vice President of the Data Science Society, I offer a diverse skill set and a deep passion for advancing our society's mission. With a track record of leadership roles, including serving as a student council representative, leading a charity club, and being a course representative, I have demonstrated my ability to effectively coordinate and support various initiatives.

In addition to my leadership experience, my involvement in choreographing dances showcases my creativity and organizational skills, which I believe are essential for overseeing the divisions of our society and assisting the President in achieving our short-term goals.

Furthermore, my extensive experience in computer science, including participation in numerous hackathons and membership in the HKUST Academy for Bright Future Young Engineers, highlights my technical expertise and dedication to the field. My research internship in machine learning further solidified my understanding of data science principles and methodologies.

Above all, my passion for data science drives my commitment to the Data Science Society and its members. I believe in the transformative power of data-driven insights and innovation, and I am dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive community where members can explore, learn, and thrive.

Aishani Sinha

Hello! I'm Aishani, a computer science student, and I’m excited to be running for Vice President of the Data Science Society 2024-2025.

As a current First Year Representative for the Science division, I have had the opportunity to contribute to the weekly Machine Learning Workshop series, whilst also being able to gain a better understanding of the inner workings of the society.

My wholly enjoyable experiences as both a society member and as an FYR have spurred me on to run for this position. As Vice President, I would strive to make a meaningful contribution and give back to the society that has heightened my passion and grown my knowledge in data science and machine learning.

If elected, I would aim to facilitate in:

  • Fostering a collaborative environment, where society members can collaborate to explore exciting areas of Data Science, such as through hackathons and long-term group projects.
  • Reaching out to industry professionals to organise talks and networking events, to allow members to learn more about the range of career opportunities and diverse applications of data science across various industries. This could also involve collaborating with other societies within UCL.

Overall, as Vice President, my primary aim would be to help grow and develop a community in which people across all stages in their data science journey can come together to share their passion for the area, through innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Thank you very much!
