Jahnavi Babbar

I am Jahnavi Babbar, currently a First Year Representative under the Events & Marketing division at the UCL Data Science Society, pursuing a BSc (Hons) in Socials Sciences and Data Science. I am excited to be running for the Head of Marketing for UCL DSS. Having had the chance to already work in the society’s marketing division, this position will allow me to employ the digital marketing and strategy development skills I have built upon over the last couple of months.

Throughout my education and extracurricular involvement, I have had the chance to further my interest in data-driven research and being able to harness AI tools like statistical machine learning. In May 2022, I had the privilege to organise and moderate a session at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland – which strengthened my leadership, public speaking and strategic planning skills. In school, I was the president of the Women in STEM club, where I had to represent the society at various events. Furthermore, I have also worked under the marketing team for a new social media app designed to make sustainability engaging – GreenUP. Undertaking these activities alongside my studies has in turn, helped me strengthen my communication, leadership and public speaking skills.

Given my prior experience in this field, I am extremely keen on running for this position as I  believe its responsibilities perfectly align with my strengths, and will act as an opportunity for me to further develop them.

Emily Fan

My skills and interests align perfectly for this role. I have 7 years of debate experience, with 3 as a debate coach and team captain, from which I have gained plenty of communication and teamwork skills. Most importantly, I have the ability to successfully lead, think on my feet, and to quickly adapt to changing circumstances. This makes me an excellent fit to represent this society at fairs and to engage in consistent communication with other sectors of the society. As someone becoming more familiar with data science, I can personally relate to those who are newer to it and thus can promote accessible and suitable opportunities. Furthermore, I have a strong background in design and digital art, in which I have 4 years of experience in. As a result, I am extremely familiar with working with the algorithm and making consistent posts.  I am also currently an intern for a start-up, where I work in the Marketing sector - I analyze the best times to post on social media platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn. My knowledge of this is easily transferable to this society, where I can help push social media engagement. As someone who greatly enjoys this society’s events and finds the workshops personally helpful, I would love to use my skills as the Head of Marketing to give back to the society, and to grow alongside it.

Giulia Violetti

I am passionate about taking on the role of Head of Marketing of the Data Science Society. Since joining the society in September 2023, and being the FYR for Marketing and Events, I developed knowledge on effective marketing. Through crafting engaging Instagram posts and assimilating insightful feedback from the current Head of Marketing, I have mastered creating compelling, impactful, yet simple content that resonates with our audience.

My journey in marketing traces back to high school, where I led marketing and content creation for the Prom Committee. My proven track record in engaging audiences, paired with creativity in design, positions me as an ideal candidate for this role.

Beyond my technical skills and experience, my openness ensures my commitment to collaborating with committee members to elevate marketing, among other areas like Events, contributing to our society's overall success.

My vision is not just to maintain the current trajectory but to innovate and expand our reach, creating a more engaging community. I am eager to implement a strategic marketing plan that focuses on data-driven insights to inform our campaigns, ensuring that we exceed our growth objectives. Closely analysing stats on participation and post-engagement will foster an innovative approach to improving our society's marketing.

I am committed to the mission of driving our society forward and excited about the chance to contribute to this journey. Grow together: your vote for me.
