The Computer Science Society President role requires one to take up ultimate responsibility for the society. This may include setting long-term goals to organise big events, becoming a friendly face to members and the committee to establish a welcoming environment, and the ability to adapt in case of any unprecedented situations. As the current Computer Science Society Head of Operations (and a second year CS student), I believe my communication, enthusiasm, and leadership skills makes me a suitable candidate for this role.

Through previously being a part of the student council, and my current role in the CS Society, I understand how the dynamics within a committee work and will strive to develop a strong CS community. This would mean taking into account the interests of the committee, members, and the Computer Science body in general by continuing to be active on the CS Society communication channels.

As a President my goals include (but are not limited to):

  • Strengthening ties with tech companies, startups, and alumni to arrange workshops, talks, and networking sessions to enhance members’ career prospects.
  • Continue organising social wellbeing events - including Games Nights (both traditional and gaming), Picnics, Bowling, and much more!
  • Continue hosting workshops for those new to CS (for example, the Python Bootcamp initiated by this committee).

I hope to build towards a well-connected Computer Science Society and hope you may consider me for this role.

Thank you!
