Greetings!
I'm Sonny, and I am excited to nominate myself for Head of Operations of the Computer Science Society. My experiences and passion have prepared me to contribute significantly to our society’s growth and success.
During high school, I served as a Public Relations Leader in a student society, which taught me the importance of effective communication, collaboration, and organization. In my second year at UCL, I expanded my horizons by working as a Transition Mentor and a Welfare and Social Officer of the UCL Kendo Club. During then, I organized social events, built connections, and ensured a supportive environment for all members.
My experiences have equipped me with the necessary skills and insights to serve as the Head of Operations. By working closely with the Student Union, the Department, and the other committee members, I will seek opportunities to collaborate with industry partners, sponsors, and other student societies. Together, we can enhance our events, workshops, and career-oriented activities.
CSS has been a source of fun, learning, and invaluable knowledge for me. I have witnessed the creativity and dedication of our current committee members. I am eager to build upon their success and elevate CSS to new heights.
Serving as Head of Operations is an opportunity to shape the society’s future while committing to responsibilities, skill acquisition, and hard work. I am prepared to embrace the challenges of this role and contribute to its continued success.

As someone who has experience in management and team coordination through start-up activities in school and societies at university, I would like to put myself forward as Head of Operations.
I propose a couple of exciting ideas that could enhance our community:
- Mentorship Program: An opportunity to collaborate with PhD students, staff or industry mentors so that everyone in our society can grow whilst being supported by a network of people who can share their experience and tips.
- Engaging Conversations with Lecturers: Beyond Q&A sessions, let’s foster genuine dialogues about their research, insights, and perhaps even breakfast choices. This bridges the gap between students and faculty. This could also lead into a staff vs student game night :)
- Talks similar to this year’s popular Simon Peyton Jones speaker event.
I know we're all already quite involved with CSS and look forward to the society hall-mark events, popular talks and career workshops, and honestly I want to preserve the friendly atmosphere that has been built over the years and hopefully create an even more inclusive space for everyone to interact and generally have a good time.
