Tom Woodage
Paul says that the ministry of the Gospel enables us "all, with unveiled face, [to behold] the glory of the Lord." (2 Corinthians 3:18). The reality of this passage is that we look upon Christ our saviour! Having gazed upon "the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light" (1 Peter 2:9), I cannot help but be moved to show this treasure to others. That's why I have grown to love the mission of the CU. A mission built around sinners seeing the beauty of Christ and finding something so valuable that it just cannot be kept hidden. A mission that recognises our desperate need for a saviour and the urgency of the Gospel message entrusted to us.
In my experience with CU over the years, I have found the main meeting to be essential to our mission. But for Connect at UCL to be effective it must be a place:
(1) Where Gospel-centred communities are formed and united around our common goal of making Christ known on campus, "stir[ring] up one another to love and good works" (Hebrews 10:25).
(2) Where we are renewed in delight for the Gospel, through preaching, prayer and musical worship.
(3) Where we grow in our confidence of Gospel truths, being equipped to bring present Christ to campus both in evangelistic events and our personal contexts.
(4) Where we pray for each other, our events and the lost sheep on campus.
It would to be a joy to serve you guys by helping to move Connect meetings in this direction.
