I stand before you as a candidate for Editor-in-Chief of the Cheese Grater, driven by a strong desire to amplify marginalised voices within UCL and deliver truly intersectional coverage. This stems from my unwavering commitment to ensuring all students see their stories reflected in the magazine. My year spent investigating for the Cheese Grater has ignited a passion for impactful journalism. I enjoy the opportunity to delve into complex issues, unearth hidden truths, and translate them into compelling narratives. This, coupled with my writing aptitude honed through my history degree, fuels my belief that I possess the right skillset to lead the magazine forward. Beyond technical expertise, I have a genuine enthusiasm for student journalism and love for our magazine. Whether it be the best piss spots at UCL, or championing causes like the banishment of the Tory soc, the Cheese Grater thrives on sparking conversation and challenging the status quo. I believe that by fostering an environment where diverse perspectives come together, we can create a magazine that truly embodies the dynamism of UCL and bring the marginalised into mainstream conversations. My vision for the Cheese Grater lies in fostering a culture of inclusivity, not only for uncovering stories but also for encouraging critical conversations and driving positive change within our community.
