Hi, I’m Fiona and I’m running for welfare officer. This has been my first season with UCL Lightning and I have enjoyed being captain for rec and varsity this year. I would love the chance to be welfare officer, and help ensure that cheer is a safe space for every member, where everyone feels respected and listened to. I am keen to get involved in expanding Lightning’s reach by taking part in TeamUCL’s campaigns such as Pride in Sport, This Girl Can, Black History Month and Disability History Month. I want to work to make cheer as inclusive as it can be and a space where everyone feels represented. • Lift ups of the month
  • Taking part in World Mental Health Day
  • Support around tryouts and comp season, e.g., what to expect, how to prepare, tips for settling pre-comp nerves

I would continue Lightning Families to ensure that our new members feel included and strengthen our support systems within teams. If I am elected, I would be an empathetic listening ear for any difficulties members may be facing on or off the mat. I would strive to support members as best as I can by signposting to resources and support that are available.

I would be so grateful for this opportunity to be welfare officer and I would
