Election post
Being Novice Women’s Captain has been a dream of mine since Freshers Day at the River, a day that ignited my love for rowing and RUMSBC.
Learning to row on the Thames was such a privilege and played such a huge role in helping me navigate the challenges of starting university. I aspire to follow in the footsteps of so many inspiring captains before me, emulating the encouragement and tutorage that I was lucky to have afforded to me by Alix. I have also loved learning from Freja about the role!
My main ideas and goals will be:
- Foster a safe, inclusive family where novice rowers feel welcomed, excited to row and integrated into our wonderful club.
- Create a sense of belonging, friendship and eagerness to succeed, supporting new rowers through from learning to row to winning races!
Why me?
I adore rowing and loved every opportunity to develop as a rower, from training with the UH team to taxiing from my Saturday job to the boathouse to be on time for outings!
I love teaching and enjoyed putting this into practice when leading our This Girl Can circuits.
I am driven. From attaining 97% in my Grade 8 cello at 10 years old to being a part of our Women’s 1st boat in my first races as a senior, I hope to ignite a similar driven environment in our team, fostering an eagerness to win.
Please help me realise my dream of giving back to RUMSBC, a club that means so much to me, through encouraging novice rowers develop a similar fondness and love for our incredible sport and club.
