Vanessa Tsui

Hi! I am Vanessa and I am a biochemistry student. I joined this society because I am passionate about deepening my understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry and I am earnest to go into this field as a future career. This is what motivate me to be directly involved in the Biopharma society so I can initiate all the events I believe that can help everyone who have the same interest and ambition as me. As vice president, I can help the members to be more involved in this field by implementing the following:

1) organise more and regular networking events with professionals including panel discussions and individual talks

2) explore mentoring opportunities so members can obtain personal connections with industrial professionals for more insight in their line of work

3) organise monthly socials for members to give advice to each other on making a CV, applying for internships as well as to get to know each other and have fun so everyone can benefit!

As vice president, I am committed to take my responsibility seriously, working alongside the President and the rest of the committee to get this society running smoothly and efficiently to bring all these events and opportunities to you, just so all members are able to gain the most of what this society can offer.

Kenny Zhou

Hello everyone! My name is Kenny, a first year biomedical sciences student.

I am really enthusiastic and dedicated towards biopharmaceuticals. Ever since high school, I had given multiple talks as an active member of the biology society. I have also worked in labs while published my first paper around the time. But since starting uni, I realised that there is a big gap between college and future work life. Internships are rare and ideas towards career paths can be quite unclear especially at the start. This is when our society can become a great platform for information and connection, which is where I will try my best to help out other members of the society the most.

As the vice president, I would like to implement the following in the future:

1.Organise academic seminars/webinars with professionals from the biopharmaceutical industry or professors from this field to assist us in learning, writing CVs or deciding future careers. We can also build connections with these experts which are hugely beneficial for our developments.

2.Connect to institutes, other clubs in UCL or biopharma clubs in other universities to host events and even balls, where people can exchange ideas and get to know each other

3.Fun activities, such as a pizza night when everyone can come to have a good time

Thank you and vote for me please!

Madina Amiraslanova

Biopharmaceutical innovation and its translation into meaningful clinical benefit for patients is truly one of my great passions. My interest encompasses anything from promising immunotherapy drugs for cancer treatment to increasing funding for drug development!

As the founder and chair of the Science Research and Discussion Society in my sixth form, I have gained invaluable experience in holding society meetings, organizing academic events, and leading discussions. This alongside my role as a science tutor has enabled me to develop my leadership, organizational, and communication skills, which I have managed to refine further as the first-year representative of the UCL Science Magazine and the Project Leader for the UCL CancerCare volunteer project.

I'd like to set up a society newsletter to keep the members updated on the latest developments in the biopharmaceutical field and provide insight into the intricate mechanisms behind drug actions in a way that is accessible and engaging. As a cancer biomedicine student, I would also love to organize academic talks and workshops with researchers from the UCL Cancer Institute on the latest fascinating developments in cancer research, particularly novel promising therapies!

I’m excited about this opportunity to put my passion for biopharmaceutical research into practice and to contribute to society’s aim to bring together and create an effective learning and collaborative environment for students who share that passion!
