Joycelyn Chua

Hi, I’m Joycelyn, an Economics student and currently a member of the Green Growth and Sustainable Development team II.

From this society, I have explored my passion for research and have learned so much from working with such a diverse team. Hence, I would like to get more involved in promoting such values by joining the committee as Treasurer.

To build on the legacy of the society and to develop, my aims are as follows:

• Financial responsibilities: Efficiently make reimbursements, manage funds and ensure spending falls within the budget.

• Communication: Clearly record monetary flows and data through spreadsheets, concisely take and format minutes of meetings and manage paperwork efficiently.

• Connection: Ensure society members are confident to contact committee members, enhance interactions between all parties and act as the main link between the society and SU.

Working in hospitality means I have experience working in and leading a team within a fast-paced environment and can confidently handle tills - organising cash and non-cash payments and reports. Therefore, developing transferable skills like financial literacy, strong communication and teamwork, all which are necessary for the role. 

I hope I can join a committee, whose values align with my own and actively contribute towards its development, further inspiring other students to research.
