I am writing to nominate myself for the position of Research Officer at the ARTSMH, a role I am deeply passionate about. My enthusiasm for research, especially at the nexus of arts and mental health, has been a guiding light in my academic and volunteer endeavors.

This month, I had the privilege of contributing a paper to the ARTSMH's research department, an experience that further solidified my commitment to this field. My journey into this field began during my time as a volunteer at a special education school. There, I witnessed firsthand the profound impact music and rhythm had on the students. This experience was transformative, propelling me to explore how music can serve as a powerful tool in enhancing mental health.

Driven by this curiosity, I chose to focus my university application personal statement on music psychotherapy. The research and learning during that period were immensely enriching, cementing my commitment to advancing our understanding of how the arts can foster psychological wellbeing.

When delving deeper into the topic, I discovered that not only does music have a therapeutic effect, but other forms of art, such as painting, theater, and even video games, can also be beneficial. I hope that more research will be conducted in this discipline, enabling these therapeutic practices to be integrated into everyday life.

I am excited about the possibility of contributing to the ARTSMH in this capacity. Thank you for considering my nomination.
