My name is Dahlia Elkhouly. I am a current first-year student and an existing member of the Amnesty Society.
Engaging with Amnesty has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me. What I appreciate most, is that Amnesty tackles many relevant issues, but relies on the power of the people. Only through the encouragement and education of individuals does Amnesty find its strength to create positive change. In the midst of human rights violations, I have witnessed how challenging it can be for people to know how they can make change happen. This very problem is tackled by the organization through its promotion of transparency and calls to action.
This society believes in the impactful strength of everyone’s voices coming together. My goal, if elected, is to facilitate the education of UCL’s community members, and encourage further participation to advocate for positive change. I hope to contribute by helping to drive initiatives that creatively engage the UCL community and be impactful towards the issues that they care about. I am so excited about the prospect of being further involved in a club that not only raises awareness but actively empowers and educates students to utilize their voices and take meaningful action.
Hello! I'm this years treasurer for UCL Amnesty International Society. As such, I'm applying to support the incoming committee this coming year. I would like to take a less active role in the society, but I'm still interested in helping where I can and informing all about how we carried out projects this year. I believe this will help with the transition and will provide someone you can easily reach out to throughout the year. I'd also be present at committee meetings and ready to advise where necessary. I hope you consider my application! Thanks!
