African Caribbean Society: Media Officer

Yoo guys, my name is Sean and I’m a first year student studying Sports and Exercise Medical Sciences. ACS has made up a substantial part of my first year experience, helping me to thrive, flourish and foster new connections. Now, I want to give back by running for the role of Media Officer!

My intention as Media Officer is to showcase the diverse ACS community that so kindly welcomed me. Social media is a big avenue for our society that feels so unexplored. When first looking at what was awaiting me in UCL, the first place I looked towards was the ACS TikTok. To have the most personable form of social media be so underused, our ACS felt so underrepresented. This has to change, and with me as officer, it will.

I have lots of experience within the realm of social media, creating videos on TikTok and Instagram, so this means I understand how bring to more exposure to our ACS and how to draw more eyes to all of your fantastic achievements.

I plan to post more engaging content over all our accounts, showcasing the many highlights of our community and I plan to increase our rep, so all the other UoL ACS’s know who’s on top! I plan to be informative to those who need it, always letting our people know about events and opportunities – opportunities which I can hopefully increase and improve with more eyes on our ACS.

Ultimately, I know I’m fit for the role, but my primary goal is always going to be to better the ACS experience using my creativity and the media tools I have available.
