As a British born Chinese, this society has really made me feel at home and I would really like to give back to this community and organise unique events that everyone can enjoy. I am sociable and outgoing while also being someone who enjoys organising and planning events therefore I feel like this position really suits me and believe I’d be able to do a good job. I have plenty of experience organising and managing events and forms from my prior experience of being head student at my sixth form and I would love to be able to organise an event on a much larger scale and bring together a community. I have good time management skills and am good at communicating things effectively and efficiently. I have experience with communicating with venues before to organise events (my sixth form prom) and this is a necessary skill required within this position. I have lots of experience with working in a group from sixth form as well as my current course, engineering, which involves lots of group work and communication. I am a good judge of character and know how to bring the right people together. I can speak Mandarin btw xx

Zoe Pang

Hi guys, I’m Zoe and I am running for Event Director this year! As a fresher, I am lucky to join this inclusive and welcoming society, allowing me to make many friends and have so much fun in different events. I would like to return the favour and develop new events building on those this year.

Drawing from my experiences as a peer counsellor and badminton team captain in my previous schools, I have planned welcome parties for newcomers and understand the importance of effective communication and teamwork, which makes me well-suited for this role.

Everyone loves dancing and drinking on nights out (including me), but I would also like to bring more casual events to Abacus. Events such as baking sessions or cultural food tasting allow for different activities, where everyone can interact and connect on a deeper level.

I am really looking forward to contributing to Abacus society as the Events Director. I will do my best to collaborate with other committee members and create memorable experiences for all of you!

Aidan Tang

Dear abacus members,

I am hoping to be your events director for 2024. During first year I have attended many abacus events and thoroughly enjoyed all of them; my favourites being abacus football and take me out.

i enjoy drinking boba, eating dim sum and just eating in general. Being from Hong Kong my favourite foods are duck rice, bo lo bao and hotpot.

As events director, I hope to bring more of these alongside other events such as more hotpot, kbbq, Chinese baking events and different sporting events with other unis.
