Election post

Status
Elected
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

My goal would be to help promote diversity and inclusion within UCL. I would work to ensure that the needs women of colour are represented in the Women's Network's initiatives and events. Specifically, I would aim to:

1. Foster an inclusive environment and ensure that relevant campaigns, events and other policy related to POC issues are coordinated to be best of my ability.
2. Promote intersectionality and coordinate events which will aid UCL’s POC population.
3. Advocate for change and identify areas where the organisation can improve its diversity and inclusion efforts.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I have previous experience working on initiatives to aid women of colour -having participated in workshops and events to improve my cultural competency training and facilitating discussions on sensitive topics. Additionally, I possess strong communication skills to communicate the concerns of people of colour to UCL’s leadership and other members. Most importantly, I am committed to making UCL a more equitable environment and I will use my leadership skills to build relationships and navigate complex organisational structures to represent the student body.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

As a woman of colour, I have experienced firsthand the challenges that come with navigating spaces where you are not always represented. I understand the importance of having a voice and being heard, and I am committed to building strong relationships with other societies, advocating for policy changes that promote equity and inclusion, and hosting events that celebrate diversity and support the needs of women of colour.

If you believe, like I do, that everyone deserves to be heard, then I urge you to vote for me as your representative. Thank you for your consideration :)
