Ishanvi Arora

As FYR, I worked closely with the current committee and developed an understanding of the internal workings. My experiences in assisting and attending various events organised have pushed me to take up more responsibility and help drive the change we cause.

In conversation with a previous committee member, I grew awareness of the difference in statistics for our events as compared to other non-gender-specific societies. Further, my participation in the AXA events wherein the 2 male students overpowered the 15+ female students in the QnA section has led me to believe that there is an underlying fear in women to participate and put themselves out there. As president, I want to work towards resolving this and giving all female students the backing and confidence to speak their minds.

Interaction with successful women who have already walked the path provides aspirants with inspiration to strive for nothing but the best irrespective of societal expectations. I would work on this by organising panel discussions and coffee chats followed by workshops for LinkedIn, CV, and cover letter.

If chosen as president, I will strive to maintain the current positive reputation, legacy and sponsorships while also working towards building on these strong foundations. I intend to raise the profile of UCL Women in Finance among other university societies, students, and employers. I am excited to help Guild and WinF develop. I look forward to working with and for you all!

Anika Priyaranjan

When I look around, I see phenomenal women bold enough to pave their way through life. As one of the leaders of the Women in Finance Society, I would be committed to helping the society grow and thrive, so it can provide a platform for its members to learn and gain experiences in the finance industry.

My vision for the society is one of expansion. I am determined to utilise its potential as an equitable and inclusive finance society. I aspire to expand the society’s reach by forming more partnerships with successful individuals and organisations, promoting engagement, fostering connections and creating new opportunities for women to advance their careers, while also building a strong sense of community and support within the organisation. I want to increase the frequency and variety of the opportunities that the society has to offer. I also aspire to introduce new innovative initiatives that will ensure our members’ success, including but not limited to more networking and speaker events, case study competitions, workshops, and landmark events.

I am dedicated to ensuring that society is functioning effectively to promote gender diversity in the finance industry while reflecting the goals and aspirations of each member of the organisation. I recognise that leadership is about listening, learning and growing alongside those that I lead. I’m in for the ride if you are.

Beatrice Soresina

Hi! As First Year Rep, I witnessed the dedication and passion that our members have for promoting and empowering women in the finance sector.

Inspired by this, I have been deeply involved in the society and I am loyal to serve WinF:

  • With UCLIS I organised the ESG & Financial feminism speaker event
  • I enabled a collaboration for workshops with an ESG Fund Analyst Academy
  • Being Head of House and School Prefect fostered my open-mindedness and communication skills

Building onto this committee's solid legacy, my vision includes:

  • Inter-University WinF network - uniting with other unis to increase networking, mentorship, sponsor, and internship opportunities
    • In London: in person events
    • In the UK & Worldwide: Zoom events and panels to gain an even more international perspective
  • Expand vision - further develop WinF in areas such ESG Investing, Fintech, IB, and Corporate Finance
    • Accordingly, find additional more diversified sponsors
    • Collaborate closely with The Guild and UCL societies for events
  • WinF Forum - create a platform to exchange:
    • Internship opportunities: especially programs targeted to women
    • News section with market updates: stay informed pre-interview
    • Top tips for interviews and applications

As President, my priority would be to ensure that our society further grows as a friendly, empowering, and educated community that members can turn to and trust to make a positive change by breaking gender stereotypes in the finance industry.
