I started volunteering with UCL relatively recently, but I wish I had started even sooner! I knew it was something I wanted to get involved with ever since talking to the society members at the Welcome Fair, who kindly introduced me to the society and gave me some merchandising that I still have to this day!

After taking part in the Social Hackathon, I knew I wanted to run for this position. Despite the event being online, the positive impact of our work felt tangible, and it was especially rewarding to see the representative for The Gardens Trust being so appreciative of all our ideas and help. I particularly enjoyed devising solutions for the problems faced by the Marketing Department, and thought it was testament to how much good can be done simply by setting aside a few hours that may have otherwise been spent procrastinating to do things we truly care about.

In this role, I would relish the opportunity not only to continue volunteering myself, but to help charitable organisations first-hand to spread awareness for their causes and events. As a person with a multicultural background, I am adept in understanding and communication, skills that I hope to use in order to promote the amazing work being done by the Volunteering society.

This opportunity means that I will stay committed to helping others and hopefully one day, I will inspire more people to do the same.
