United Nations Association: Outreach Director

Hello, my name is Mira Hamita. I am a first year English undergraduate and I am running for the position of Outreach Director. 

Like the name of the role entails, it is important for students to get involved more within the society in order to foster the aims of the United Nations Association. One of these aims is to coordinate the UCLMUN Schools Volunteering Programme.

As someone who is currently involved in the UNA committee, I firmly believe that there should be more opportunities for students to get involved in volunteering in relation to UNA. I want to be able to empower the local community and student groups by giving them more insight into the world of MUN. Furthermore, I seek to implement more programmes similar to this in the near future.

I will also help tailor more specific events in collaboration with other societies within and beyond UCL as well as organizing events with NGOs, embassies and more. This is to enable more engagement from members of the society and to create a more tight-knit environment, which I feel is essential to the smooth running of the society.
