Ultimate Frisbee Club: Welfare Officer

Hi! For those who don’t know me, my name is Luqman, a first year Bsc Economics student, and I am excited to be considered for the welfare officer position.

As you all know, this club carries great meaning to many of us, and I share the sentiment. My train of thought was, "If I’m so passionate about frisbee and can’t help myself from playing every week, why not contribute to this club that I enjoy so much?"

As the welfare officer, I would like to ensure the welfare of the club members is a priority on and off the pitch. As such, my first initiative if elected is to ensure a first aid kit is always on standby at every match played. After playing ultimate for so long, it is inevitable to witness the many injuries that occur on the pitch, so treating minor problems quickly could be advantageous for our players’ health and also our team. In the long run, if we keep our players healthy and injury-free, we will likely win more games.

Off the pitch, I will ensure that I carry out my due diligence to represent all communities and minorities in the club. If any issue were to arise, I would take the necessary measures to maintain peace and sustain an environment where everyone would feel welcome. I will not tolerate any form of discrimination or racism in the club and will be the first point of contact if issues come to light.

I hope to be of service to you all after this election and cannot wait to be your new welfare officer!
