Daniela Yaremenko

Hello everyone! My name is Daniela, I am a first year student studying European Social and Political Studies and I am running for the position of the Welfare Officer at the Ukrainian Society.

It’s never been so important to stay united and support each other as it is now. As the Welfare Officer, my primary role will be to ensure that all members of the society feel welcomed and included. I believe it is essential to have an environment which fosters the sense of solidarity and belonging, and where every single one of us can thrive.

Having studied in four different schools in three different countries, I understand the importance of feeling welcomed and included in a new community, and my aim will be to ensure that the UCL Ukrainian Society is exactly the place where everyone feels valued and respected.

I am committed to working closely with other members of the society, as well as with any external organisations to ensure that every person has access to any support they may need. I hope our society can always be a place where people are brought together and friendships are formed!

I am committed to promoting diversity and inclusivity within the society. I believe that together, we can build a strong and united community that celebrates our differences and supports each other through both the good times and the bad

Thank you and Slava Ukraïni!

Freya Proudman

Hi - I’m Freya! I’m in my 5th year studying at UCL SSEES.  I am currently finishing my MA degree and will be starting a PhD in September.

I've been involved with Ukrainian Society since it was founded. I previously served as the SSEES Student President and oversaw the running of the SSEES Society during the 21/22 academic year. During my time as President, I helped provide support and guidance to the Ukrainian Society Committee to help the society grow, and we collaborated closely together in organizing many joint events.

Following the full-scale invasion, I organized SSEES Society's donation drive for Ukraine which has shipped over 2,000 boxes of humanitarian aid to Lviv and Kharkiv over the last year. I’ve actively worked to advocate for the needs of UCL Ukrainian students. Last year, I met with the UCL Provost, International Student Services, and Finances to provide temporary accommodation, emergency financial assistance, and a simplified extenuating circumstances policy for Ukrainian Students, as well as campaigned for UCL to cut ties with r*zzian universities.

In my personal life, I am a Young European Ambassador for EU Neighbours East where I coordinate the EU-Ukraine Dialogue Initiative which works to foster joint projects between EU and Ukrainian youth. I also served as Welfare Officer for Welsh Society for 2 years and can sign-post students to all the support systems which are available at UCL.

Slava Ukraïni!
