Candidates

Artur Podsokha

Hi everyone, my name is Artur, and I study Politics, Sociology and East European Studies! Our country is suffering daily from horrific aggression, even though there is no doubt that Ukraine will win. However, as a Ukrainian, I greatly desire to help my country and promote it here at UCL. This is why I decided to run for the position of Treasurer in the Ukrainian Society. As the treasurer, I will ensure that every penny will benefit our mission - the popularisation of Ukraine. I will also work to provide our members with exclusive benefits. As I already served as the Communications Manager for this society in 2022-2023, I am familiar with how societies work at UCL and ready to take on all necessary responsibilities. With other elected committee members, it will be my goal to welcome every single student who wants to learn more about our fascinating country through socials, educational events and a variety of online content that we share on our social media pages.

As all Ukrainians need to stay united, no matter where they are, I genuinely believe that our society has to unite everyone who expresses interest in our country. If elected, I will do my best to efficiently control society's funds and provide the best representation of Ukraine at UCL and among all universities in the United Kingdom.

Thank you and Slava Ukraïni!

Ivanna Yehorova

Hi, my name is Ivanna and I am a Politics, Sociology and EES student, running for the position of Treasurer!

Over the last year more and more young Ukrainians had started to realize the cultural wealth of our country and I am enormously inspired by the fact that Ukrainian heritage is becoming a synonym of something modern and trendy beneath our very eyes. That’s why I am willing to take the initiative to create a welcoming student environment that would spark enthusiasm for our homeland’s future and show its past from a different perspective.

My goals are:

-Effective financial management to ensure the continuation of this year’s most successful events

-Introduction of the crowdfunding system to finance cultural festivals in collaboration with other Ukrainian societies in the UK

-Immersive workshops specifically targeted at foreign members, that would allow to take a glimpse at our culture and language

-More socialshands-on workshops

In high school I had organised the collection of humanitarian aid for Ukraine and have volunteered for the Nobel Peace-prize winning Center for Civil Liberties in Kyiv, which has greatly boosted my leadership skills. Currently I am working on a project to bring Ukrainian books to the UK. I have solid Excel skills and experience with finance, obtained through online programmes run by AmplifyME and J.P.Morgan Chase, which has also teached me how to work in tight deadlines and be organised, abilities crucial for a society’s Treasurer.

Stefaniya Rogers

My name is Stefaniya and I’m studying History. As someone who has held the position of Social Secretary in the Ukrainian Society this academic year, I have gained valuable experience and insights into the workings of the organisation. This year, I took the lead in organising social events, such as the end-of-summer picnic and bar socials, ensuring that they were logistically sound and enjoyable for all members.

If elected as treasurer, I plan to use my experience and skills to create more streamlined and efficient financial practices for the Ukrainian Society. Specifically, I aim to create more transparent financial reporting for committee members, so that they are aware of the organisation’s financial status and can make informed decisions about how to allocate resources. I also aim to further explore new opportunities for partnerships or collaborations with other organisations to share resources and reduce costs.

I am confident that I can take on the role of treasurer with the same level of dedication and commitment as I did for the Social Secretary. Having worked closely with the previous treasurer, I understand the financial responsibilities of the position and can manage the organisation's funds with prudence and transparency. Additionally, I have the network and skills to mentor other students who get elected in different positions, ensuring that the Ukrainian Society continues to grow and thrive.

Slava Ukraïni!
