Anastasiya Polyakova

Pryvit, my name is Anastasiya. I'm originally from Zaporizhzhia and currently a 1st year Civil Engineering student. My biggest pride has always been my native country, and events since the Revolution of Dignity have sparked my feeling of responsibility to represent Ukraine when abroad.

Running for communications manager at ucl.ua, I hope to be part of a team that will inspire and educate about our country. I want to share and develop the beauty of our nen’ka Ukraïna through events that will allow you to experience its traditions, showcase its achievements and debate niche areas of innovation.

My ideas include bringing varenyky to campus, starting a Ukrainian literature reading club and inviting speakers from Ukrainian startups. For Ukrainians, I want the society to feel like home. For internationals, I hope the society will make you fall in love with Ukraine, if you haven’t already.

Aside from communication being a crucial part of my degree, my experiences volunteering for the Embassy of Ukraine and being the translator for Dnipro Kids will help me ensure the smooth communication with members and wider audiences to increase engagement and maximize the following messages:

  1. Ukraine is not simply defined by war - it is a country of unique culture, history, nature and talented people
  2. Ukraine is currently fighting for its existence, and, as a society, we contribute to achieve our victory -- peremoha

Paulina Golub

Hello everyone! My name is Paulina, I am a first-year Politics student at SSEES, and I am incredibly enthusiastic about applying for the Communications Manager position. 24th of February, a date forever etched in the memory of millions of Ukrainians; waking up at five o'clock in the morning to the sounds of bombardment in Kyiv was the longest day in my life that haunts me thus far. By promoting our society, we will spread and highlight the importance of supporting Ukraine and Ukrainians during this tough period caused by Russia's full-fledged war on Ukraine. This is why I aim to promote Ukrainian culture, history, and traditions among Ukrainians and non-Ukrainians in the UK.

I have the requisite skills and ability to function effectively as a Communications Manager. Both my personality and experience would be ideal for this position. One of my most significant advantages is my interpersonal skills and the ability to find common ground with people. As for my experience, in the final year of school, I was elected to become a head girl, which has benefitted me profoundly. One of the critical skills I have gained includes effective communication and strong organisation skills.

With my communication experience and social media expertise, I will work on building relationships and cooperation with different societies and agencies to benefit the Ukrainian society at UCL significantly.

Slava Ukraïni!
