Shreiya Singh

Hi, I’m Shreiya, a second-year history student! This year, I had the pleasure of being a part of the TEDx society conference team, where I gained more insight about the society and its events. I strongly value the relationships I have built this year and the society's united commitment towards inspiring conversations about new ideas.

I have already made significant contributions to the delivery of the speech contest and main TEDxUCL conference this year, in various capacities. Furthermore, my experience as a course representative for my department exemplifies my exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, making me an ideal candidate to lead the society.

As President, expanding our society's reach and impact will be one of my key priorities. To achieve this goal, I will focus on organizing high-quality events featuring dynamic speakers and engaging content, while encouraging audience involvement and dialogue. Additionally, I would like to encourage talks and speech showcases for students, to help members develop their public speaking skills in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Overall, I believe that I have the necessary skills and experience to be an effective president. I am committed to collaborating with the other members of the society to foster a creative and inclusive environment through a variety of events and opportunities for students that encapsulate TEDx's values!

William Abou-Rjaili

As president my main goals will be to reform the Student Speech Contest into a proper TEDx event, organize the logistics of the main TEDxUCL event this year, and create a video production team that streamlines live broadcasting and video production over all our events.

The structures detailed below I have specifically implemented when head organizing TEDxDeerfield, all with replicable procedures and documentation. I plan to take that structure and merge it with TEDxUCL’s current procedures to create a foundation for a long-lasting, powerful society.

Event Planning Timeframe: For both TEDxUCL and the Student Event, the dates, venues, themes, and relevant deadlines will be published this academic year. The speakers for the events will be chosen far enough from their respective events to give them enough time to prepare.

Student Speech Contest: I will make the student speech contest into a fully-fledged TEDxUCLStudents event, publishing videos on TED.com. Instead of this event being a speech contest, I'd like to see it become a TEDx event for students, where those with ideas most worth sharing can give polished TEDx talks.

Video Production Team: The main goal of TED is to be a platform where one could share ideas to the public. Clear communications and good production quality are essential to this goal. A team dedicated specifically to filming events and editing them into concise and powerful videos is a must for any serious TEDx event.
