Karthig Thillaivasan

Hello, I'm Karthig and I would like to run for VP for Tsoc for 2023/24. Having been Media Officer for Tsoc this year, I have experience in event promotion and posting in a timely manner. I have also experience in organising events and I feel both of these are key experiences to being Vice President and running events smoothly, in particular, our flagship events- Dandanakka and Panithuli. As VP, I aim to raise money through acquiring sponsorships, building an integrated society with a wider range of activities and use my networking to increase outreach of events. I also want to work with the culture and charity reps to increase awareness of issues around Sri Lanka and India, and thus build donation schemes for charities. My knowledge and experience in multiple roles will enable me to help and support the rest of the committee. My role in 5 committees over last year demonstrates my skills in time management and dedication to committee roles. Following the success of events over the last year, I would like to make our society well known around UCL and promote our rich culture. As president of Medical Society at my school, I have skills in managing and communicating with other committee members. Overall, I want to ensure that everyone has a memorable time at Tsoc next year and I want to nurture a growing togetherness amongst the many interested in Tamil culture and its various manifestations, and celebrate a shared heritage rooted in a rich language and literature. Vote Karthig!

Abiramy Sriskantharajah

I have loved being a part of UCL Tamil society 22/23 as a charity representative and would love to again be a part of the society, but this time taking upon a different role that will allow me to take more leadership as I believe I have the experience needed to do so. I want to be able to help grow the society further and help the Tamil student population at UCL make the most out of their social life at university, whilst making great friends and memories :))

Sobinya Gunaratnam

Hi guys, I’m Sobi and I'm running for VP because I have spent the past year as a freshers rep in which I was able to complete tasks when asked, passionate in getting everyone together and just make first year an enjoyable experience for everyone!

I’ve had to work closely as a team and have had the opportunity to see the behind-the-scenes of how things work from our annual events, (panithuli and dandanakka), which I really enjoyed. Being a member of the official UCL Tamil society this year, I can now understand how things are properly run such as ammas and appas which was really nice.

Thus, I feel that I now better acknowledge the process of planning events and my experience will enable me to make the right decisions when it comes to it. Furthermore, I'd love to work with some of the same people but also meet new people next year in which I hope to increase networking and make great memories within our society :)
