Jasmine Yen

台灣同學會的大家 你們好~Hi everyone!

I’m Jasmine, currently a first year doing BSc Politics and International Relations. I’d like to run for welfare officer in the 23/24 leadership race. In the past year, I’ve attended multiple TWSOC events and enjoyed them thoroughly as there is no better feeling than being with friends who remind me of home. I am excited for the prospect of serving in the committee to enhance the experience of all Taiwanese students.

Throughout high school, I’ve accumulated multiple skills that would assist me in this role. Leading a large-scale volunteering club has cultivated my communications skills and ability to coordinate different year groups. Being Secretary-General of MUN have led me to understand the mechanisms of social media outreach and working with diverse people in administrative roles. These abilities would allow me to be receptive of the needs of all society members and facilitate an open channel of communication with everyone.

My aim as welfare officer is to dedicate myself to making college life as smooth as possible for everyone — potential ideas to achieve this would be to create a comprehensive FAQ list for incoming students, monthly calendar posts in addition to consistent family group events, and a Q&A platform where members can ask questions and receive timely responses.

I hope that I can contribute to a society that is both a vibrant community and a support base for every Taiwanese student. I look forward to potentially serving everyone!

Chia-Yu Lee

In my first year at UCL, Taiwanese society, particularly the welfare committee, provides me with much support. It was an honor to assist the next class of freshmen and I wanted to contribute to them.
The welfare position in this leadership race appeals to me since I am an enthusiastic and supportive listener. High school events such as Halloween parties, sports competitions, and New Year's Eve events have given me some experience assisting. Consequently, I am confident of my ability to assist with the event next semester.
