Candidates

Grace Yang
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I have experience working for UCL in the Dementia Research Institute and in the hospital within different teams, collating information to present in meetings, navigating administrative systems, and managing orders to ensure the smooth running of national projects.

I am a committed, understanding, proactive person and would love to be an advocate for student voice to improve, develop and meet sustainability goals at UCL! Having been part of a range of societies from hockey to art in the last 4 years, I hope to help explore sustainability in many different communities of the university!

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I want to drive initiatives to improve UCL’s carbon footprint, plastic use, and ultimately our goal of being a net-zero-carbon institution by 2030.

For example, we could explore implementing a plastic bottle deposit return scheme within the campus, not only in social spaces (the library and the cafe) but also in professional spaces (laboratories and studios), where plastic audits have improved recycling systems.

I also would love to be involved in raising awareness by working with the Sustainable UCL team in their events such as 28 days of Sustainability.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I hope I can give back to the UCL community by being a strong voice for all the students, improving our influence on the environment, and taking responsibility for our future together!
