Student Action Against Homelessness Society: Vice President

Hello! I’m Claudia, and I’m running to be the Vice President! 

I believe that everyone should have a safe home they can return to and thus feel strongly for action against homelessness, particularly having done an internship in a transitional shelter for the homeless. 

As the 22/23 Volunteering Officer, I arranged volunteering opportunities such as FEAST With Us cooking sessions, initiated the society’s first engagement session with rough sleepers around campus during Christmas, and hope to continue contributing to this society next year.

As the Vice President, I hope to work with all the committee members to expand the society via increased publicity to recruit more members, organise more events, volunteering opportunities, as well as initiate new collaborations with other societies, and push for their smooth execution. I also hope to increase the frequency of engagement sessions with rough sleepers to a more regular basis. I wish to continue ensuring consistent weekly newsletters to society members, and to have a calendar of events for each half-term.

I believe I can execute this role well with the skills I have developed from my past leadership experiences, having taken up leadership positions throughout my years of schooling (student councillor, society exco member, faculty committee member. With these experiences, my passion to serve the homelessness community and my desire to contribute to this society, I would be grateful to have this position. Thank you!
