Lucy Quan

My name is Lucy Quan, and I am a first year studying MSci Statistical Science. I have a passion for statistics and data analysis and I believe that statistics play a crucial role in solving real-world problems. I am eager to promote the importance of statistics within the society and beyond.

As Secretary, I will work to ensure that the society operates efficiently and effectively. I will maintain records of meetings and activities and make them accessible to members. I will also collaborate with other society officers to organise events that will promote interest in statistics and provide opportunities for members to enhance their skills and knowledge.

As first-year representative I have had the opportunity to work in all the divisions of the society and have gained great insight into the operations of the society as well as ideas on how to allow the society to grow further. I have learnt how to communicate well with other societies about events collaborations and how to utilise social media to gain more online presence of the society.

My involvement in extracurricular activities at school, such as serving as a Prefect and an Editor of the science magazine, has helped me develop excellent time management, communication and leadership skills, which I believe will be beneficial in the role of Secretary.

In conclusion, I am committed to serving the society as Secretary and believe that my skills, experience and passion for statistics makes me a strong candidate for the role.
