Stage Crew Society: Social Secretary

Stage Crew has been an exciting and important part of my university experience and I want to give back by joining the committee to further improve the experience for members. I believe Social Secretary is an important role to help provide members with the balance of intensive show weeks and trainings with socialising and fun events. Having worked on shows in all the different components, I believe I have strong insights of the upsides and challenges of different roles, which helps me empathise and understand the need for breaks from the theatre (to finally see the daylight when we're not in the Green Room). I would collaborate with the Welfare Officer to plan outings that are accessible and inclusive for all. I want to give you the events you would enjoy and will constantly plan based on your feedback, including potential trips, watch parties, art sessions or even society collaborations. I believe I have strong organisational and planning skills which I have further developed as General Secretary in the Geography Society committee this year, helping to organise various departmental events and open days. I look forward to continuing to be a part of Stage Crew in this coming year.

Hi, I’m Lucy and I’m going into my second year studying Medicine. Through my various experiences working in theatre I have picked up many cool games along the way such as the tape Olympics and Cable Cluedo (which obviously I would like to share with you all). As much as I love going to the pub after a long day in the theatre, I can appreciate the need to have regular non-pub based socials too! Meeting members of stage crew and other societies is definitely the best part of being in Stage Crew. My aim is to continue to support the fun and welcoming atmosphere of Stage Crew both within the theatre and outside at a mixed range of social events!
