Stage Crew Society: Externals Officer

Hi! My name is Maya, and I’m running to be your externals officer next year. 

Over the past couple years, Stage Crew has grown to be an incredibly important part of my time at UCL, and I would love to join the committee and do what I can to help lead this amazing community. 

Externals have been one aspect of stage crew that I have especially enjoyed, and have also build my confidence with teching shows. As externals officer, one main goal of mine would be to help create opportunities for more people to gain experience with using the desks and with get ins and get outs. Having been one of the live music tech officers this past year I’ve orginized two sound tech workshops, going over the logistics of doing a get in and basic mixing. As externals officer, I would love to work towards making this a more regular part of stage crew, whether just through normal external get ins or as their own separate events. 

Additionally, one major focus of mine would be to encourage more people to feel included within stage crew. Externals are a great way for people to get involved within the society and as externals officer, I would do everything in my power to ensure that externals are as inclusive and welcoming of an environment as possible. Tech can sometimes be intimidating to get involved in at first, I want to make this a place where people feel comfortable to try new things and get involved no matter how much experience they have.
