Kimberley Edmondston-Douse

Hey! My name is Ley, and I’m running as your Vice President for the SSEES Society. I started the 2022-2023 academic year off as Events Officer for the society but had to unexpectedly take a year out from uni. Now having some some experience with the administrative side of the society, I would like to continue my work with a broader vision in mind.

I have a variety of skills that would benefit the society if I were to be elected. I have communications experience from writing for Pi Media- the UCL student newspaper- and from working for the press team of a Member of the Scottish Parliament. I am also the social media manager for Museums With No Frontiers and have previously volunteered for the Pankhurst Centre Museum and for Girlguiding, which has given me leadership experience, insight into planning & running events and working to a set schedule.

I have several plans that I would like to see implemented in the 2023-2024 academic year:

  • Planning more embassy visits.
  • A continuation of the SSEESS magazine initiative.
  • An increased focus on the wellbeing and social aspects of the society, including regular updates with our membership.
  • Ensuring there remains a range of events addressing states across the SSEES region, potentially through collaborative events with cultural societies.

This year’s committee has done an excellent job, and I hope to carry on that legacy as Vice President of the society in the coming year!

Attila G Mesterhazy

My name is Attila and I’m running to be your next Vice-President! As a current first-year representative on the SSEES committee, I know how the society operates. If elected I’m committed to continuing the important work of building the SSEES community.

As a first-year representative, I organized the visit of the Hungarian ambassador to the society. I also played a key role in coordinating other community-building events such as the karaoke night and the games night. Next year I will work to bring more high-profile politicians and diplomats to SSEES as well as continue regular embassy trips, using my extensive political and diplomatic network.

I'm looking forward to organizing many more guest speakers for the society, such as joint ambassador's events where representatives from two countries can discuss their different views on contentious topics. I’m also planning to invite government officials from the region’s countries.

I was born and raised in Hungary in the beautiful city of Budapest. As a Hungarian national, I'm really excited to have the chance to be the Vice-President of a society, whose specialization includes my home country! I’m planning to create a stronger bond between the SSEES society and the various nations societies, so as we can attract more people to our events.

All in all, if you want a society with a strong community, and with more high-profile politicians/diplomats events VOTE FOR ME!
