Election post
Hi! I'm Naomi, a final year student studying French and Russian at SSEES. I have enjoyed my time here so much that I am planning on coming back in September to do an MA!
SSEES is a relatively small department and this has many benefits when it comes to creating a close-knit student community. Being a student over the last few years hasn't been easy, and I experienced this first hand with my second year taking place online and my year abroad being cut short due to the invasion of Ukraine. Being back on campus this year I have a newfound appreciation for our little community and feel prouder than ever to call myself a SSEES student. Representing my cohort as a student representative, I have helped to ensure clear mitigation and extra tuition to compensate for the disruption to our year abroad. I want to continue to support the student community at SSEES and make sure that the society newsletter can engage as many people as possible and make everyone feel included.
