Shivam Pathak

Hi everyone, I'm Shivam and I'm running to be your Welfare Officer this year at Rare FM.

I have been privileged to be presenting on this station for two years now. I have met so many wonderful people and been to some fantastic events, and it's been a pleasure to find my own voice and listen to many others.

Student radio is a great way for people to demonstrate what they're passionate about, whether it be DJing, presenting, debating, or simply just having some fun on the airwaves. I truly believe we represent UCL's diverse, welcoming community at the station, and that's why I'm standing for the position - to ensure that everyone can feel safe and happy within a diverse, supportive and inclusive environment.

I would work closely with the Rare committee and the UCL Student Union to ensure everyone's needs are met, as well as considering and warmly welcoming anyone who wants to discuss any issues they may have in confidence, before ensuring that they are swiftly resolved and that they feel 100% comfortable and happy at the station. I've volunteered in mental health outreach previously at UCL and during my school years, so I am familiar with the resources and framework that can be implemented to ensure everyone feels listened to and safe.
