Music Society: String Orchestra Manager

Hello! I am Mike, a third year computer science student.

I've been in string orchestra past two years and was a string orchestra managers this year. I was happy to see everyone so engaged and having fun and I was certainly the happiest! I wanted to give back to the ensemble and I was very lucky to be given a chance.

Some of the things I wanted to deliver were properly printed music, the ensemble having a bit more friendly and social atmosphere and levelling up musical standards with sectionals and principals' rehearsals. I hope these helped improving your experience in string orchestra.

I would love to be able to work for the orchestra for another year. I now have the experience of liaising with the conductor, the committee and external bodies such as venues planning concerts. I want to deliver an even smoother operation both logistically and in rehearsals.

Musically, I would like to have more frequent sectionals, which hopefully will be useful for practicing or if you want some more music time or even to just get to know your section better! In addition, with a new conductor, I hope you would have even broader experience and have more fun.

Weekly pub socials have seen great turnouts, which I would like to continue, in addition to any suggestions and help from you and social secretaries.

I had some of the best time in string orchestra. It's an ensemble that means a lot to me personally and if you would allow me, I would like to make it an even more fun experience.
