Medieval Society : President

My name is Lucy and I’m a second year history student from Canada! Medieval history is one of my favourite topics, and I love sharing my interest with others. I am running for President for the Medieval Society because I want to continue to spread the medieval spirit at UCL!

Over the past two years, I have served on the Medieval Society Committee as the Welfare and Events Officers. My experience has given me insights into the logistics of event planning and communication, the interests of our members, and how the society can be improved in the future. Though we had a rocky start to this year, the society held numerous successful events, including museum visits, pub socials, and a movie night! If elected, I promise to continue and to expand this slate of events. I will work with members and the committee to ensure that voices are heard and that the society is as well-organized as possible.

My planning and leadership abilities have also been developed through my involvement with my high school students’ council, local and provincial Girl Guides, and the UCL Canadian Society. My work on these various committees has given me valuable teamwork, collaboration, and leadership skills.

I firmly believe that these previous experiences, especially on the Medieval Society Committee, and my passion for all things medieval, make me an excellent candidate for the position of Medieval Society President. I can’t wait to go medieval with all of you!
